Aquifer and Land Subsidence Interaction Assessment Using Sentinel-1 Data and DInSAR Technique

چکیده

Climate change and overpopulation have led to an increase in water demands worldwide. As a result, land subsidence due groundwater extraction level decline is causing damage communities arid semiarid regions. The agricultural plain of Samalghan Iran has recently experienced wide areas subsidence, which hypothesized be caused by overexploitation. This hypothesis was assessed estimating the amount that occurred using DInSAR based on analysis 25 Sentinel-1 descending SAR images over 6 years. To assess influence changes this phenomenon, maps were produced, their relationship with evaluated. Results showed one major cause overexploitation, highest average occurring 2019 (34 cm) lowest 2015 2018 (18 cm). Twelve ascending used for relative validation processing. correlation value varied from 0.69 0.89 (an acceptable range). Finally, aquifer behavior studied, cultivation patterns optimal utilization resources suggested as practical strategies control current situation.

Predicting water level drawdown and assessment of land subsidence in Damghan aquifer by combining GMS and GEP models

It is over two decades that groundwater flow models are routinely implemented for better management of groundwater resources.Modeling groundwater flow with the help of the ground water modeling system (GMS) in the Damghan plain aquifer in northern Iran, which experiences declining levels and numerous environmental hazards, has demonstrated that, (a) in the worst case scenario theaquifer will fac...

Advanced interpretation of subsidence in Murcia (SE Spain) using A-DInSAR data – modelling and validation

Subsidence is a natural hazard that affects wide areas in the world causing important economic costs annually. This phenomenon has occurred in the metropolitan area of Murcia City (SE Spain) as a result of groundwater overexploitation. In this work aquifer system subsidence is investigated using an advanced differential SAR interferometry remote sensing technique (A-DInSAR) called Stable Point ...

DInSAR-Based Detection of Land Subsidence and Correlation with Groundwater Depletion in Konya Plain, Turkey

In areas where groundwater overexploitation occurs, land subsidence triggered by aquifer compaction is observed, resulting in high socio-economic impacts for the affected communities. In this paper, we focus on the Konya region, one of the leading economic centers in the agricultural and industrial sectors in Turkey. We present a multi-source data approach aimed at investigating the complex and...
